RE: DirecTV CBS Problem

Same thing here also. While watching CBS to directv NFL packaged channels, would get a pixelled horizontal band across the screen. Also times between feeds when the screen would go 'dead air'. Assumed CBS was having difficulty linking to directv's birds.

RE: Winnebago Water Heater Leak

You should be very concerned about the water leak. You should also be even more concerned about the dealer. Run don't walk away from that place. Now that you know what you want you can shop at a myriad of dealers. Even if it is a full days train ride, you will still be better off. Even a flight to Forest City and you will be miles ahead.

RE: Newbie In Waiting

Congratulations on your new coach. You will have to post pictures when you take delivery. As for things on the roof adding to the possibility of leaks; anything 'through the hull' will increase the possibility of leaks. That being said, done correctly and maintained properly it will be a non-issue.

RE: Update: RV parking at Reno, Nevada casinos

IMO when competition from Indian casinos get to a certain point, Reno and LV will take a look and see that almost all of them have an rv area. Some go from dry camping all the way to full hook ups. Many with limited facilities are free with length of stay limitations. Most are security patrolled end even though I don't consider myself a big time gambler they can almost always count on me for a meal.

RE: pet peave

Try this. When they answer the phone say "I guess that concludes our transaction to your satisfaction and start to walk out". Bet they get off the phone fast then.

RE: California Route 20

You have the route. Have done it many times but will wait out two days of storms and then take I-5. ODOT does a great job of keeping the pass open. Always make sure my propane is full before heading over.

RE: I'm glad I can afford it ....

Rarely do I question the time. I get an estimate ahead of the work. Naturally it is never less. If it isn't too out of line with the estimate I just bite the bullet. Sort of like using the estimate as foreplay I guess.

RE: Ideas for replacing bedroom tv-in corner cabinet

I am seriously considering going to a wall mount and using the cabinet space for additional storage. So much for any net weight savings. Kathy, who did your front TV?

RE: Miles drivin in a day

Seems like no matter how hard I drive at the end of the day I seem to average around 55 mph (including stops) so four hours averages about 250 miles, more or less. If the mph average goes up more miles but rarely longer then four or five hours. DW likes the out by ten in by two rule. I prefer going to 3 or 4 but am often overruled.

RE: WINTER HEAT

If it is above forty degrees ambient and you have a heat pump, you could use that. I guess that wouldn't qualify as a space heater.

RE: Who is in AZ for the winter?

It is killing us having to wait until February. Did Yuma and Bullhead last year. Thinking of Tucson this year with a Caravan to Puerto Penasco next then who knows. Thinking of heading east to check out RGV for the first time. It looks like we will be down that way for at least a couple of months.

RE: Pacific Coast Hwy 1 & Hwy 101

I will second what many have said. Take your time. I have literally made that trip more times then I can remember off hand. It seems the longer I took the more I enjoyed the trip. Each trip had it's own highlights depending on what I was looking to do/see. There has been much written about sights and the route. Do a Search in this forum and Roads and Routes and Campgrounds and Attractions and you will have plenty of reading.

RE: Another lesson learned the hard way!

Definitely leave your pump off when you are not in the coach but you already know that by now. I don't even like to stay connected to outside water when I am away from the coach for extended periods. Good luck with the dry out and just think of the mess had you not had an empty gray tank.

RE: Seattle Area Mechanical Resource Recommendations?

Without ANY reservation, Roy Robinson in Marysville. Just give yourself time. At last check appointments were about two weeks out. Call the writers Ken or Amy and let them know what you need and they can give you a good idea on cost and how long it may take.

RE: Preferred rte btwn

Cross to Az at Needles and take the Az 95 not the Ca side 95. Good road easy drive watch areas of wind gust. If you have a little more time 95 out of LV to Nv 163 cross at Laughlin/Bullhead City and then south on Az 95. That gives you about a 9 mi freeway shot east on 40

RE: Our first trip, need advice

Another one for 50 mph average. I drive the legal limit for MH in combination and that pretty much averages for 50 mph with a stop every 2 hrs at most. Even if it is only 10 or 15 min to walk the dog, stretch the legs and visit the little room in the back. That way I can figure a 200 to 250 mile day pretty easy. As it is your first time with the new to you 5 'er I would plan on even less then that. Hope you can get out in it for a shake down before the big trip. I will add to your comfort zone and may boost your mph.

RE: Charging the Chassis & House batteries from inverter

You would be better off with a Trik L Charge connecting house to chassis. It keeps the chassis battery charged to 1/2 volt below house and shuts off when house gets to 12 volts or when chassis exceeds house.
